Mr.Kay, the matches were so unfair, Mexico just gave away 2 goals and England , that was a goal
I’M SO SAD AND ANGRY 😦

Yes, the England goal was a goal. If the referee had allowed it, the score would have been 2-2, with the momentum in England’s favour. It would have been a totally different game. Oddly enough, when England won the World Cup in 1966, they beat Germany 4-2. One of England’s goals, came down off the crossbar, bounced, and went out of the goal – just like it did today. Then, unlike now, the linesman said the ball went in! Today it was not meant to be.

Yes, the Argentina goal was offside. And, if the referee had disallowed it, the Mexican players wouldn’t have been so annoyed/frustrated. And it was that which probably led to the second goal.

It has not been a great day, football-wise, for any English/Mexican football supporter. It has been awful for this England AND Mexico football supporter. I feel your pain.

Yes, what they have to do from now on , is if they have a doubt. They could put the replay on the screen and see if it is in or not,or there could be a person watching the game from the TV and telling the referee if it’s goal or not.

Mr. Kay I can’t believe it. The president of FIFA apologized for the bad ref thet they put on BOTH matches, but I don’t understand , if he said he is sorry, why don’t he makes a rematch.
( if you want to watch it , here is the link http://www.mediotiempo.com and there is a big square, and there is the president, click, watch )
In my comment or opinion is that, why can’t there be another team? so here is the thing for me.They should do another match and let anoter team joins the 4th fianl and as a macth they can put England vs Mexico as an official quarter final match .

It iss crazy, but that’s my opinion

I love your passion Shai, and I love the fact that you still believe that there is a way around this. I’m sorry to tell you, there isn’t. Sepp Blatter, the President of FIFA, has been against video technology all of his presidency. Yes, he might have apologised, but that doesn’t mean he is going to do anything. It comes down to money. The English FA is one of the biggest FAs in the world, and the richest. FIFA don’t want the “big” countries going home, that’s why he apologised. He still won’t do anything.

Before the World Cup tournament started, there were the qualifying matches. France qualified, against Ireland, with a last minute goal. The goal was set up by Tierry Henry, flicking the ball on to another player’s head, WITH HIS HAND: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs8WWBXGiXg. That game was NOT replayed. France went to the World Cup. The Irish weren’t even apologised to. However, we know what happened to the French in the World Cup.

In 1966, England won the World Cup. In the final they played Germany. After normal time, the score was 2-2 and it went into extra time. In the first half of extra time, this happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__MJV11nRqU. In this case, the referee and linesman decided to allow the goal to stand. England won the final, 4-2 (the fourth goal was scored in the final seconds, and shouldn’t have counted either, as there were people on the pitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wyLvagyApY AS you can imagine, the Germans were very upset about this result. I suppose, in a way, 44 years later, the Germans have their karmic balance.

In the long run, England weren’t good enough. They should have beaten the USofA. They should have beaten Algeria. They should have been in the easier half of the draw, thus avoiding Germany and Argentina. But they weren’t good enough. They didn’t play well, they conceded 2 goals before the non-goal, they conceded 2 after. I’m not totally convinced that they would have won if the goal had stood. Of course, I’d have liked it…but they weren’t good enough to win, and they weren’t good enough to go on.

Mexico, also should have beaten South Africa and, at least, got a draw in the game against Uruguay. They didn’t, and they too ended up in the wrong half of the draw. However, they were playing well. The non-goal-that-was-allowed was against the run of play. The first goal led to the second goal – what was Osorio thinking? Once they got over the shock (and Marquez had stopped kicking people up in the air), they were equal to Argentina. And so, oddly I feel worse about the Mexico result than I do about the England result. Yet, most Mexicans feel worse (for me) the other way round. Ah well, another reason to love this country.
